One of these meetings will take place on a weekday night. The second part of the meeting will be an open discussion which will be advertised in Workers Solidarity and other publications.
The other meeting will take place on a Saturday morning. The second part of this meeting will be a more in depth educational. The branch secretary should ask Dublin contacts who may be interested in joining the WSM to this meeting or other anarchists who have expressed an interest in joining and who happen to be in Dublin that day.
All reports to these meetings should be submitted in writing either by ensuring they are posted to the Dublin WSM email list two days in advance of the meeting or by giving them to the branch secretary at least three days in advance. The branch secretary is responsible for ensuring sufficent copies of the reports are available at the meeting for members who do not have regular access to email.
Discussion around issues that branch members are involved with should be based around answering questions about the reports, making political decisions about this activity and allocating branch resources to this activity. The purpose is not to decide on the day to day organisation of activity. In so far as is possible clear proposals should be made in writing so it is very clear what decisions are under discussion. Where this has not been done the chair should first of all ensure that what is being proposed is worked out, written down and read back to the branch to provide a framework for decision making.
The purpose of reducing the number of branch meetings is to provide additional time for members to engage in working groups and local groups.
Working groups are composed of members and interested contacts to co-ordinate our branch activity around particular issues. The members of a working group are responsible for ensuring a written report goes to the branch at least once a month. Between themselves they should ensure that WSM members attend regular campaign meetings and other events around particular issues. They should ensure such events are advertised on ainriail. For events of particular importance they should ask the branch meeting to request all members to mobilise for this event.
Local groups give an informal way for WSM members and contacts to organise activity in the geographical area where they live and/or work. They should seek to involve other anarchists in that area in discussion and activity and where possible to get these anarchists to join the WSM through attending the branch meetings. Typically they might meet semi-formally once a month in a bar or coffee shop to organise door to door leafletting, postering or a stall and to have an informal discussion.
The level of activity of working groups and local groups should reflect what is possible at that time in that area and in relation to the general level of activity in the organisation.
