As you will be aware this autumn the government intend to present us with a second referendum on the Nice treaty. A wide range of groups intends to campaign for a No vote. This email is an invitation to a list set up to help co-ordinate the activity of groups and individuals campaigning against Nice from a progressive viewpoint.
It is hoped the list will achieve two things
1. Avoid the situation where events organised by different group's clash, e.g. two or more public meetings on the same night in the same area.
2. Allow individuals who want to campaign to find out details of where they can get material and of what activity may be going on in their area.
So the list is primarily for announcements of events and publications directly related to the Nice treaty although some discussion of the campaigns and surrounding issues will also be allowed. Discussion posts will be limited to one post per member per day, up to two announcements per day can also be sent to the list. If the material is already on the web.
You can join the list at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/No2Nice/ or by sending an email to No2Nice-subscribe@yahoogroups.com to leave the list email No2Nice-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.com
The list is moderated by members from some of the groups active in campaigning against Nice. If your group would like to also have a moderator on the list please email andy@tao.ca with the name of your group and the email address of the person you want to delegate as a moderator (they will need to be already subscribed from that address).
Posts sent to the list from people who are moderated can be approved by any of the lists moderators. If the post is not suitable for some reason that is easely corrected (eg excessive quoting) then a moderator can reject it and explain how to re-submit it so it is suitable. Otherwise the post will remain for two days (in which other moderators may decide to approve it).
If the post has not been approved after two days any moderator can reject the post if they send a post to the person outlining the reasons why the post is being rejected. If the post has not been approved after one week any moderator may simply delete the post.
