In 1992 thousands of people took to the street the demanding that a 14 year old rape victim, who was suicidal, should have the right to an abortion. In a subsequent referendum people refused to outlaw suicide risk as grounds for abortion. The government promised to introduce legislation that would safeguard this right for Irish women. But they did nothing and five years later yet another young suicidal woman, was dragged through the courts. Now Fianna Fail and the PDâs and trying to roll back the x-case judgement and endanger women's lives. It is vital that we oppose them and defend women's right to abortion.
