Irish action in support of Prague demonstrations

This September the IMF in holding a massive congress in Prague which will also mark the opening of its Eastern European HQ there. Just as there was a massive mobilisation from all over North America against the WTO congress in Seattle last November (N30) so people from all over Europe are mobilising against this IMF congress.

At the time of the Seattle demonstrations the Irish Mexico Group had initiated a protest at the Central Bank in Dublin which was attended by around a dozen other groups. This was a modest beginning which should now be built on.

Next Tuesday (18th July) we are holding a meeting in the LASC office for all those interested in organising a demonstration in Dublin in solidarity with and at the same time as the Prague demonstrations. Although notice for this first meeting is short we hope enough individuals can make it to begin the initial process of organising and contacting organisations that may be willing to take part. Please come along.

Meeting:

Latin American Solidarity Centre
5 Merrion Row (between Stephens Green and Baggot st)
Dublin 2 20:00 Tuesday 18th July)
