Ireland is also home to the Irish Mexico Group/ Meitheal Mheicsiceo na h-Éireann. Set up in the summer of 1995 in response to growing public interest in and sympathy with the EZLN struggle for democracy and justice in Chiapas, the group tries to keep people in Ireland informed about events in Mexico and to support the peoples of Mexico trying to live in peace and dignity. As well as holding public meetings, we sent a delegation to investigate the situation in Mexico, focusing in particular on human rights abuses in the state of Chiapas. If you would like to know more about what is happening and/or would like to get involved with the group, you can contact us at the address below. Membership is £5 a year if you are earning, otherwise £3. We try to answer all queries, but are dependant on donations to cover the postage.
