We are worried, as is everyone, about Popocate'ptl

December 20, 2000.
To the National and International Press:

Ladies and Gentlemen:

A communique' is off concerning a deplorable anniversary, and another one concerning paramilitaries who are threatening to repeat it.

We are worried, as is everyone, about Popocate'ptl and the anxious sky hovering above so many people who are living in the area around it. We truly hope that it does not get any worse. We are sending our solidarity to those brothers and sisters.

One hopes that the ostentatious self-sufficiency with which the current government is approaching the problem does not end up being a cruel joke. It would not be the first time that an attempt has been made to prevent a catastrophe through official statements.

Vale. Salud and, if any catastrophe is repeated, then nothing has changed.
