BROTHERS:

In my position as military chief of the Zapatista Army of National Liberation I have decided the return of the Delegation of the Clandestine Revolutionary Indigenous Committee - General Command of the EZLN to their mountain positions. This, to gurantee their safety, that is in danger due to the uncertainty generated by the present crisis, the Indigenous Commanders of the EZLN will leave tomorrow, December 6, 1996.

With the authorization of my Companero Chiefs and due to the responsibility I have, I will remain in the city of San Cristobal de las Casas, Chiapas, awaiting the results of the negotiations of the Legislators of the Committee of Harmony and Pacification (COCOPA)* TRANSLATORS NOTE.

As soon as I confirm that our Supreme Command is protected, and giving proper notice, I will hold a press conference in the city of San Cristobal de las Casas, Chiapas, where we will let you know the determination of the EZLN with respect to the present crisis in the process of dialogue with the Federal Government.

That is all.
