The Dublin Abortion Rights Group welcomes the launch today of Abortion Reform, a newly established coalition of groups and individuals united around the common aim of ensuring the legalisation of abortion in Ireland. The Dublin Abortion Rights Group has been in existence since 1992. Its members support the legalisation of abortion on request, a more radical position than that adopted by the new campaign.
Aileen O'Carroll of the D.A.R.G. said today: "Although the Dublin Abortion Rights Group is a more radical group than Abortion Reform, we support the establishment of any organisation which can be described as pro-choice. This shows a shift in public opinion towards the idea that abortion should be legal at least in some circumstances."
